New Summer 2014 Disney Blu-ray Releases

A few months ago I blogged on Tumblr that Disney was going to release Hercules and Tarzan on blu-ray this summer. Looks like they will be releasing these two movies on August 12th, 2014 rather than in June. You'll have to wait just a little longer to add these to your collection.

Tarzan and Hercules aren't the only movies to be excited about. Disney is digging into the vault and bringing some long time favorites out. On August 12th they will also be releasing for the first time ever on blu-ray The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, and Mickey, Donald, Goofy The Three Musketeers.

In addition to those great movies being released. Disney's Muppets Most Wanted will be released on August 12, 2014.

Since we are already talking Disney I have to tell you about the new Toy Story Movie that is being released. Its a straight to DVD/Blu-ray release. It's called Toy Story of Terror! The gang is back again on a road trip. This blu-ray is expected to release on August 19th, 2014.

Disney's Fantastic New App

Have you had a chance to check out Disney's new app Disney Movies Anywhere? It's a free app that links to your iTunes account to stream your Disney movies. You'll be able to buy or purchase movies from either iTunes or the Disney Movies Anywhere App and they'll be accessible through both formats. The exciting part is that if you've already purchased the Digital copy Dvd's or Blu-rays you'll be able to add them to your library on Disney Movies Anywhere. It will be away for Disney fans to have access to all their favorites. You'll be able to watch all your favorite Disney, Pixar, and Marvel movies anywhere you go.

For a limited time while you sign up you get a free movie. That's right free. When you sign up and register both your iTunes and Disney Movies Anywhere app you can get a free copy of The Incredibles. That's not bad for downloading a free app.

Even better for all you Disney fans there will be exclusive content available only on the Disney Movies Anywhere App. Currently they just released a Pixar short of the movie Cars. Its entitled Cars Radiator Springs 500 1/2. It's an app definitely worth checking out.

Simple Summer Sides!

I had posted these easy side salads on our tumblr account, but since we've moved to Blogger I wanted to bring them over. My wife Kaynettia loves to cook. Usually I try and help with the side dishes. Since I'm not as excited about cooking I like to keep things simple. These three salads are simple, easy to make recipes that also are very inexpensive to make. It takes little prep time to make. Like most people I'd rather be enjoying the party then stuck inside prepping the food. If you are going to a party this Memorial Day weekend or maybe you are hosting the party try one of these simple dishes to go with your meal.

Tomato and Cucumber Salad
1 Tomato diced
1/2 cup of red or white onions
1 cucumber diced
1 tbsp of EVOO (if you choose, I did without)
There are a million versions so experiment. Maybe add some red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar.

Corn and Zucchini Salad

1 Corn on the Cobb (when corn is out of season you can use canned corn)
1 Zucchini
1 Lime
1 TBSP of Cilantro chopped
1 TBSP of Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Cut up your ingredients and mix together in a bowl. I always eye the cilantro because its a matter of taste. Not all people love cilantro so go by your personal taste preference.

Mixed Vegetable Side
1 Red Bell Pepper
1 Green Bell Pepper
1 Corn on the Cobb (when its not summer and corn is out of season I just use canned corn still tastes great)
Just cut the corn off of the Cobb and add to a bowl. Chopped both peppers and add to bowl. You can mix with light Extra Virgin Olive Oil if you like. I think these vegetables compliment each other so you really don’t even need oil. Its also tastes great if you grill the veggies. Raw or grilled it makes for a good side

Now depending on the size of your party you can adjust the amount of ingredients needed. I love these three sides. They are healthier side options than your typical potato salad and they taste delicious. I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Try one of these salads. I promise you'll love them.

Blended Hits Theaters Friday!

I had a chance to catch a screening of Blended with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore. Overall the movie was cute with some laughs. Terry Crews did well playing an African dancer. Drew and Adam are good onscreen together. It was lagging a bit. Unfortunately you sort of knew what was going to happen before it played out on screen.

I would give the movie a 3 out of 5 stars. Not the best movie but it was entertaining and one families will enjoy together.

Some spoilers:

The movie was about two parents who go on a blind date. Lauren (Drew Barrymore) is a little more of the up right worry wart type of parent while Jim (Sandler) is more easy going but clueless when it comes to raising girls. They hate each other after a disastrous blind date. Of course they end up on an African vacation together curtesy of Jim's boss, who recently broke up with his girlfriend.

Once in Africa Jim and Lauren discover the trip is all about blending families together and is somewhat of a romantic trip. You can guess the rest. Go see it. You'll enjoy Sandler and Barrymore on screen together.

Take care everyone. Blended opens in theaters Friday May 22, 2014.
